Questions
1. I based my list on the question; What actions did I take this weekend that were stimulated by outside influences? Our class discussion also helped to define the parameters of my list. Taking a closer look at myself and the things around me ,I must admit that Popular Culture has a large impact on my life. I don't think that's a bad thing necessarily, but maybe I should raise my awareness and think a little more critically.
2. Categorizing my list into types of pop culture is difficult because I encounter all of the categories frequently. Unless a person lives in seclusion there is no way to avoid being bombarded by all forms of pop culture. If I had to pick a category that influences me the most it would have to be keeping up with current fads or trends. I chose this one because I like to know whats happening and whats new in society.
3. The most common themes I see in my life are; convenience, pursuit of wealth, and social responsibility. Convenience is a big thing for me mainly because I live so far from any major department stores and things of that nature, so the internet helps alot. When it comes to the pursuit of wealth, I work as much as I can to give my family things they deserve. I also think there should be ballance in the form of not working so much to where I don't see my family. I also feel that if a person truely cares for a cause they should take personal responsibility for that cause.
4.I personally have been impacted greatly by popular culture when it comes to purchases and entertainment. I think I'm mostly aware of the the influences society has on me but I'm sure there are things that have been engrained into my mind subconsciously. We are all responsible for the decissions we make and everything should be thought out before actions are taken.
